Pro-Life = Anti-Choice = Anti-Women - politics

Inside Scoop reports that Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Greg Brannon has introduced an ad touting his pro-life stance ("Greg Brannon ad touts pro-life credentials, Rand Paul endorsement," by Joe Killian, Greensboro News & Record, March 31, 2014). He promises, if elected, to propose a "Life at Conception Act." The Pro-Life Alliance explains what this is. Not only would it effectively overturn Roe v. Wade and prohibit all abortions, it would make every unborn person a citizen due all rights and protections under the 14th Amendment. There would be no difference in a legal sense between a human being who has been born and one who has not been born -- beginning at the moment of conception. I sincerely respect the views of people who believe that an abortion takes the life of a human being. The trouble we run into is the details, usually starting with the questions about what to do in cases of rape, incest or threat to the mother's life. Most people would make allowances for those situations. That would not be possible, however, if a Life at Conception Act were enacted into law. One cannot make any exception when it comes to the life of a human being. In fact, logically speaking, the same government interventions on behalf of a child would have to be applied to a preborn baby. The state has an interest in preventing abuse and neglect of children. It would have the same interest in preventing abuse and neglect of a fetus. Well, how to police this? When children are born, their births must be registered. If the state has an obligation to protect children and their rights, it must have a record of their existence. The same will be true of preborn children. "Conceptions" will have to be registered with the state. Any reports of possible abuse or neglect -- a mother who smokes, doesn't eat well or otherwise engages in unhealthy activity -- must be investigated. If intervention is required, of course the state will be authorized to act in the preborn person's best interest. In the event of an unfortunate occurrence, such as a miscarriage, an investigation will be warranted. This would raise the possibility of criminal charges if there is evidence the death was caused by abuse or neglect. Would this really happen? The possibility seems Orwellian, but it is the logical extension of a new legal status for unborn persons.

Save Our Nation Stop The Invasion - politics

Amnesty is tantamount to the elimination of the last remains of the middle class. The prospect of derailing this juggernaut through Congressional action is inconceivable as long as cowardly conservatives capitulate to their corporate donors. Even more absurd are the lobotomized liberals. They purport to be champions of the worker, but are willing and eager to destroy any meaningful employment for their own compatriots. Where is that elusive fairness for our own citizens? Soon the remnant economy will be reduced to the same level of third world exploitation, with the United States being the biggest loser. No wonder that the media presstitutes over at NBC, push their hit program – by the same name – to a dullard public. rather than overly control, punish or extort from its citizenry, with a blind eye to the external threats its ignoring.

This libertarian agrees. While I believe the governemnt over-reaches in many areas, it is still a necessary evil, just as is my need to lock my car and to lock my house, this nation must protect its borders. Government must exist to protect the nation

nothing says birth control like a Screaming Baby - politics

Why is it that almost half of U.S. adult pregnancies and a majority of teen pregnancies are unintended, even with many birth control alternatives on the market? Unfortunately, one reason is that access to affordable contraception continues to be a struggle for many women. If a woman does not have health insurance, birth control can simply be too expensive with costs ranging from $30-60 per month or up to $500 or more for a long-term method, plus the cost of a medical consultation and/or lab fees. Everyone needs access to adequate health care for all their needs; contraceptive coverage for all women is a good place to start.
